About Me

Hon. Jacob M. Gross, MPA is a seasoned writer, ghostwriter, government policy expert, and political operative. His specialty is ghostwriting opinion pieces on Democratic politics.

Jacob has written three opinion pieces for the New York Daily News.

His first published writing was in 2006, when his Letter to the Editor was published in the New York Times Sunday Magazine.

Previously he worked in the political consulting and lobbying firm Bill Lynch Associates, founded by former New York deputy mayor Bill Lynch - the "Rumpled Genius" who mentored most of New York City's political class. Jacob wrote opinion pieces, fundraising e-mails, and press releases. He handled social media for multiple members of Congress, which was quoted in most of New York's major dailies. During his tenure, he ghostwrote an article for Lynch, "How Charles Rangel Keeps Winning," in Campaigns and Elections Magazine. Jacob later ghostwrote a Huffington Post Black Voices column for Bill Lynch III. One piece, "Stop Slandering 'Black Lives Matter,'" was the banner headline the morning of January 9, 2015. He also wrote a political column for LA West Media.

Jacob continued to compose written political material at Sykes Global Communications. During the 2021 New York City primary election cycle, he ghostwrote 1 to 2 opinion pieces and 5 to 7 press releases each week. His op-eds have appeared in the New York Amsterdam News, Gotham Gazette, City Limits, the Queens Eagle, Caribbean Life, Black Star News, the Village Sun, and PoliticsNY.

He is also a Senior Advisor to a member of the New York State Assembly, where he writes numerous communications materials and advises on policy.

Jacob is a local elected official, serving as a member of the New York County Democratic Committee, earning him the title of "Honorable."

He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Masters of Public Administration from Columbia University. He has also studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, the Peoples Improv Theater, and the Magnet Theater; and is a trained puppeteer.
